As the 2026 assembly elections approach, another pollster has forecast a landslide victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam, while giving an edge to the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala. According to the projection, the BJP-led alliance may win close to or even surpass 100 seats out of 126 constituencies in Assam.
Assam Seat Projection
The analysis by Today's Chanakya predicts the BJP+ alliance securing 102 ± 9 seats, the Congress+ alliance getting 23 ± 9 seats, and others winning 1 ± 1 seat. This suggests a dominant position for the ruling party in the northeastern state.
Kerala Outlook
In Kerala, the same pollster indicates an edge for the UDF, though specific seat projections were not detailed. The UDF, led by the Indian National Congress, is expected to perform strongly against the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF).
The projections come as both states gear up for high-stakes elections. In Assam, the BJP aims to retain power amid challenges from the Congress and regional parties. Kerala, meanwhile, sees a tight contest between the LDF and UDF, with the latter hoping to capitalize on anti-incumbency.
These forecasts are based on surveys and historical data, but actual results may vary. The elections are scheduled for later in 2026, with dates to be announced by the Election Commission.
