Repair work on Bengaluru's Peenya flyover has led to major traffic snarls, causing significant delays for commuters. With the elevated stretch shut for maintenance, vehicles have been moving sluggishly through Peenya, Jalahalli, SRS Junction, and surrounding junctions, pushing up travel time considerably.
Impact on Commuters
The closure of the flyover has forced traffic to be diverted through alternative routes, resulting in congestion that has stretched for kilometers. Commuters reported spending an additional 30 to 45 minutes on their usual journeys, with peak-hour delays being even more severe.
Areas Affected
- Peenya Industrial Area
- Jalahalli Cross
- SRS Junction
- Tumkur Road
Local authorities have deployed additional traffic police personnel to manage the flow, but the sheer volume of vehicles has overwhelmed the existing infrastructure. Commuters are advised to plan their routes in advance and consider using public transport or alternative bypass roads.
Repair Work Details
The repair work is part of routine maintenance to ensure the structural integrity of the flyover, which has been in use for over a decade. Officials have stated that the repairs are expected to be completed within a week, barring unforeseen circumstances.
In the meantime, residents and daily commuters are urged to remain patient and cooperate with traffic management measures. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has assured that every effort is being made to minimize inconvenience and expedite the repair process.
