Bhopal LOP Slams CM Yadav Over Wheat Procurement Issues

Bhopal: Leader of Opposition (LOP) Umang Singhar reacted strongly to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's inspection at wheat procurement centres. On Thursday, the chief minister launched a Kisan Helpline and visited wheat procurement centres in Shajapur and Khargone.

Singhar's Allegations

Singhar stated, “The fields have been harvested; the markets are full of grains. But the farmer's pockets are empty. The server is down, slot booking is closed, and the farmers are still waiting for their turn at wheat procurement centres.” The Mohan Yadav government extended the wheat procurement deadline until May 23. However, the LOP claimed that farmers are standing in queues, yet they are unable to sell their wheat.

Inspection from Above

“The chief minister is inspecting from a helicopter, but the farmers' pain on the ground is invisible,” the LOP said. “The BJP government's farmer policy is on paper, and it is a middleman-friendly system that has created a situation in which farmers work hard while someone else reaps the benefits,” he alleged.

Demand for Justice

The LOP argued that farmers do not need technology; they need justice. He demanded that the state start procurement immediately based on tokens and receipts. “Otherwise, remember that the farmer is watching everything, and will respond when the time comes,” he warned.

The criticism comes amid reports of technical glitches and administrative hurdles at procurement centres, exacerbating the distress of farmers who have already faced a difficult harvest season.
