Bihar Students Excel in ICSE, ISC Exams with 99.52% and 98.83%

Patna: Bihar has achieved an overall pass percentage of 99.52% in the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (Class X) and 98.83% in the Indian School Certificate (Class XII) examinations, the results of which were announced by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Thursday.

The performance of students is slightly better than last year's results, when the pass percentage stood at 99.40% in ICSE, while ISC recorded a decline of 0.95% compared to 99.78% in 2025.

Girls have once again outshone boys in both examinations. In ICSE, girls recorded a pass percentage of 99.60% compared to boys at 99.45%. Similarly, in ISC, girls achieved 99.06%, while boys secured 98.47%.

A total of 6,396 candidates from 40 schools appeared in Class X in Bihar, out of which 3,424 were boys (53.53%) and 2,972 were girls (46.47%). In Class XII, 858 candidates from 20 schools appeared in the examination, including 327 boys (38.11%) and 531 girls (61.89%). Overall, 6,365 students qualified in ICSE and 848 in ISC, with only 31 students in ICSE and 10 in ISC not qualifying.

At the national level, the ICSE examination recorded an overall pass percentage of 99.18%, while the ISC examination stood at 99.13%. Bihar's performance in ICSE is notably higher than the national average, underlining the strong academic standards maintained by schools and students in the state. In category-wise statistics for ICSE, 2,758 Other Backward Classes candidates appeared and achieved a qualified percentage of 99.56%, while 3,222 general category candidates recorded 99.47%. In ISC, 272 OBC candidates secured an impressive 99.63%, and 516 general category candidates achieved 98.45%.

St Joseph's Convent High School achieved a pass percentage of 100% in both Class X and Class XII examinations, with all 273 students clearing ICSE and all 95 passing with flying colours in ISC.

Principal Sr Josephine CJ said, "Nidhi emerged as school topper in arts with 98%, Angelin Theres Saju in science stream with 93% and Ipshita Ghosh with 94.25% in commerce. Unnati Raj secured 98.4% in Class X."

Deboshree of Carmel High School topped the science stream with 97%, Ariba Khurshid in arts with 96.75% and Shambhavi Amar in commerce with 91.25%, while Shatakshi scored 98.2% in Class X.

Fr KP Dominic SJ, principal of St Xavier's High School, said Divya Prakash is the school topper in ICSE with a score of 99%, while Aanya Singh and Nishtha Shankar secured 98.8% and 98.6%, respectively.

Rounit Raj of St Paul's High School also scored 99% in Class X. Saksham Kumar of Jesus and Mary Academy scored 92.4%, while Muskan Kumari secured 96% in ISC. Arihant Anand and Aanchal Mishra of Don Bosco Academy emerged as school toppers in Class X, while Samrat Singh secured 98.4%. In ISC, Devam Paliwal secured 96% in commerce, and Apra Tiwari scored 94.25% in arts.

Farhat Hasan, principal of International School, said all students who appeared in the Class X examination passed with first division. Muddasar Anwar scored 98%, while Kartik Kumar and Vaishnavi Sinha secured 97% each.
