BJP Celebrates Rongali Bihu with Historic Assam Win

Guwahati: The spirit of Rongali Bihu infused the state BJP headquarters in Basistha on Monday as party workers burst into celebrations from early morning, buoyed by early election trends showing the party leading in most constituencies. The festive atmosphere saw workers dancing to the beats of traditional instruments like 'nagara' and 'bhortall', smearing colors on each other, and swaying to rhythmic tunes, amplifying the mood of victory.

Unprecedented Victory in Assam's History

Party workers hailed the BJP's performance as unprecedented in Assam's electoral history. Addressing the media, state BJP president Dilip Saikia said, "With the blessings of the people, we will form the government for the third time. The people of Assam have given us a historic mandate. From the early trends, we were expecting this outcome. The people have wholeheartedly blessed us because of the issues we raised for them under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and the results clearly reflected that today."

AGP Shares Joy, Vows Harder Work

The BJP's ally, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), shared similar sentiments. While celebrations marked their victory, AGP leaders termed it temporary, believing the win will only motivate them to work harder for the state's residents. AGP youth president Jeetu Borgohain stated, "Our party worked really hard for this victory. Elections are always a battle for us, and we have been preparing our cadres for the last five years to go to the public, understand their problems, and help resolve them. During the Congress regime earlier, people faced various challenges, including difficulties in securing jobs. Now, the BJP government has opened the doors of opportunity for people to find employment. I believe this victory belongs to the people. This government is working and will continue to work for them."

Congress Headquarters Deserted

In stark contrast, the Congress headquarters wore a deserted look, signaling that the party and its workers were conceding defeat. Except for those handling the party's media department, no other workers were present at the office. The silence reflected the scale of the BJP's sweeping mandate across the state.

The celebrations, intertwined with the cultural fervor of Rongali Bihu, underscored the political shift in Assam, as the BJP and its allies prepare to form government for a third consecutive term.
