BJP Wins All 28 Seats in Shehra Municipality

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has registered a clean sweep in the Shehra municipality of Panchmahal district, winning all 28 seats in the civic body. Of the total seats, 17 had already been secured uncontested by the party earlier. In the counting held on Tuesday, the BJP went on to win the remaining 11 seats, completing a 28-0 victory. Counting began at 9 am on Tuesday, State Election Commission (SEC) officials said.

Gujarat Local Body Polls: A Major Democratic Exercise

The elections are being seen as one of the largest democratic exercises in the state ahead of the Assembly polls due next year, covering nearly 9,200 seats and involving over 4.18 crore eligible voters. As part of the wider local body polls in Gujarat, voter turnout stood at 55.1 per cent in municipal corporations, 65.53 per cent in municipalities, 66.64 per cent in district panchayats and 67.26 per cent in taluka panchayats, according to data released by the State Election Commission.
