Jitendra Kumar Tewari of the Bharatiya Janata Party has emerged victorious in the Pandabeswar (SC) Assembly Constituency, defeating Narendranath Chakraborty of the All India Trinamool Congress. The constituency, numbered 275, is located in West Bengal's Paschim Bardhaman district.
Constituency Details
Pandabeswar is one of the seven assembly segments that fall under the Asansol Lok Sabha constituency. The sitting MLA from Raniganj, Narendranath Chakraborty of AITC, had won the seat in the 2021 assembly election by securing 44.99% of the total votes polled. In that election, he was followed by BJP candidate Jitendra Tiwari, who received 42.68% of the votes.
Previous Election Results
In the 2016 assembly elections, the constituency was won by Runu Dutta of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). Earlier, in 2011, Ali Sohrab of AITC had secured victory in the seat. The recent polls saw Trinamool entrusting Chakraborty with retaining the seat, but he was challenged again by BJP's Tiwari.
