Congress MP Mallu Ravi Accuses Jeevan Reddy of Falling into BRS Trap
Congress MP Mallu Ravi on Saturday launched a sharp attack against former party colleague Jeevan Reddy, alleging that he had fallen into the BRS trap by switching allegiance to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi. Ravi demanded that Reddy publicly explain to the people of Telangana why the former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao-led BRS should return to power, calling this advocacy opportunistic politics.
Personal Choice Versus Opportunistic Politics
While terming Jeevan Reddy's decision to join the BRS as his personal choice, Mallu Ravi strongly criticized him for attacking the Congress government and actively campaigning for KCR's return to power. This is not just a switch; it is a betrayal of principles for political gain, Ravi stated, emphasizing that such moves undermine democratic values.
Allegations of Lost Political Relevance
Mallu Ravi further alleged that several prominent political leaders have fallen into the BRS trap and consequently lost the political relevance they once enjoyed while in the Congress. He pointed out that quitting the Congress due to personal disappointments, without waiting for an appropriate time for the party to address concerns of its senior leaders, has left figures like D Srinivas and Nagam Janardhan Reddy without any political significance in the BRS.
- Leaders who left Congress for BRS have seen their influence diminish.
- Personal grievances led to hasty exits, harming long-term political careers.
- The BRS has failed to integrate these leaders effectively into its structure.
Railway Development Meeting
Earlier in the day, Mallu Ravi met with the chairman of the railway board to discuss the proposed Dornakal-Gadwal new railway line. The Congress MP later claimed that the chairman responded positively to the proposal and directed officials to examine the Detailed Project Report (DPR) with the aim of submitting it to the Cabinet within the current financial year. This development is seen as a potential boost for regional connectivity and economic growth in Telangana.
- The meeting focused on infrastructure development in Telangana.
- Positive response from railway authorities indicates progress on the project.
- Timeline set for DPR examination and Cabinet submission this financial year.
Mallu Ravi's comments highlight the ongoing political tensions in Telangana, with the Congress positioning itself against what it views as opportunistic defections to the BRS. The allegations underscore a broader narrative of political realignment and the challenges faced by leaders switching parties in the state's dynamic political landscape.
