Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Inaugurates New Foot Overbridge at ISBT with Strict Timeline
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday officially laid the foundation stone for a new foot overbridge at the Monastery Market located within the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT). During the ceremony, the chief minister emphasized that a rigorous construction schedule has been established to guarantee the facility becomes fully operational by the conclusion of this year.
Addressing Longstanding Public Demand
While addressing the media, CM Gupta stated, "The residents of this area have repeatedly petitioned the previous administration for this infrastructure hundreds of times. Today, despite our government's relatively brief tenure, we are committed to fulfilling this essential public demand. We anticipate that this bridge will be constructed and finalized in a remarkably short period of just six months."
Recent Women-Centric Initiatives Launched
Earlier in the week, on Monday, Chief Minister Gupta inaugurated significant women-focused programs under the Sashakt Nari, Samriddh Delhi campaign. Key announcements included:
- The introduction of a free LPG cylinder scheme specifically for ration card holders.
- The launch of the Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana aimed at empowering young women.
Focusing on education, mobility, and domestic empowerment, Gupta confirmed that financial assistance for 30,000 girls enrolled in the Ladli-Ladli scheme has already been distributed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Boosting Tourism with Modern Electric Buses
In February, the chief minister also flagged off a contemporary electric double-decker bus in the national capital. This initiative is designed to enhance Delhi's tourism sector and provide visitors with a distinctive travel experience.
According to Gupta, the bus will operate on a predetermined tourism circuit that encompasses Delhi's cultural, historical, and heritage sites. The inaugural route commenced from the Shaheed Smarak and includes prominent destinations such as the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya.
"We are establishing a new tourism pathway so that our visitors can explore locations like the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya with ease. Pre-booking for these buses will be available, ensuring tourists enjoy a seamless and memorable journey," she elaborated. Gupta extended congratulations to the tourism department and reaffirmed the government's dedication to the capital's development.
Commitment to Continuous Development
Gupta concluded by reiterating her administration's ongoing efforts, stating, "Each day, the Delhi government presents a new gift or offering for the city. While one year has passed, numerous tasks remain ahead. We will persistently advance toward the goal of a developed and prosperous Delhi."
