Fadnavis Celebrates Mamata Banerjee's End in Bengal

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday celebrated the Bharatiya Janata Party's historic victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections, declaring that 'Mamata Banerjee's misrule has ended'. He termed the mandate as a 'maha-poriborton' or a great transformation for the state.

Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Fadnavis said, 'The people of Bengal have shown their faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his vision for a developed India. This victory is a testament to the hard work of our party workers and the public's desire for change.'

The BJP secured a comfortable majority in the 294-member West Bengal Assembly, defeating the Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee, who had been in power since 2011. Fadnavis credited the Modi government's welfare schemes and the BJP's grassroots campaign for the landslide win.

End of an Era

Fadnavis highlighted that the election results mark the end of Mamata Banerjee's 'misrule', which he claimed was characterised by corruption, political violence, and economic stagnation. 'For over a decade, Bengal suffered under TMC's administration. Now, the people have chosen progress and development under PM Modi's leadership,' he added.

The Maharashtra CM also congratulated the BJP's state unit and its chief, Suvendu Adhikari, for their relentless efforts. He expressed confidence that the new government would usher in an era of prosperity and good governance in West Bengal.

Reactions from Political Circles

Political analysts view this victory as a significant boost for the BJP ahead of the 2029 general elections. The party now holds power in several key states, strengthening its national footprint. Meanwhile, the TMC has accepted the defeat, with Mamata Banerjee announcing her resignation as chief minister.

Fadnavis concluded by saying, 'This is not just a victory for the BJP but for every citizen of Bengal who dreamt of a better future. We will work tirelessly to fulfill their aspirations.'
