The fire at a bed-and-breakfast in South Delhi's Malviya Nagar area early Wednesday resulted in at least 21 deaths, including 13 foreign nationals, and numerous injuries. Authorities discovered multiple safety violations and serious deficiencies in the building's fire safety infrastructure. Sources revealed that windows and glass panels were completely sealed, leaving no smoke outlet. The entrance to the basement was locked from inside, and rescue teams took nearly 10 minutes to gain access, rescuing six to seven people.

Arrests and Charges

Police arrested hotel owner Lovekesh Bajaj, along with Sweety Sarkar and Pushpo Sarkar. After completing the investigation, a chargesheet was filed in court. Bajaj, owner of Flourish Stays Hotel in Malviya Nagar, has been remanded to four days of police custody. The fire also injured 28 people.
