Chennai: Former Egmore MLA I Paranthamen made a direct attack on HR and CE minister P K Sekarbabu, blaming him for chief minister M K Stalin's defeat in the Kolathur constituency. "Is this what you meant when you said, ‘I will take care,' P K Sekarbabu," Paranthamen asked in an X post. He had tagged the post to M K Stalin and deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin.
Demand for action
Paranthamen on X said that no leniency should be shown to those responsible for Stalin's defeat. "A true DMK worker will find peace only if the party headquarters takes action without any mercy or leniency on the one who failed to pay attention to the party president's constituency," Paranthamen said.
Election results
Stalin lost to TVK candidate V S Babu by a margin of around 8,795 votes in the Kolathur segment. Sekarbabu was the DMK district secretary of Chennai North (East), where the Kolathur constituency is located. The Egmore constituency also falls under the party jurisdiction of Sekarbabu, and there were allegations that Paranthamen was denied a seat this time due to the minister's interference.
"How does the person responsible for our party president's defeat appear before him without even a shred of shame, fear, apprehension, or embarrassment," he asked. This public criticism highlights the internal tensions within the DMK following the electoral setback.
