Dhanbad: Days after his associate was arrested from Kolkata, fugitive gangster Prince Khan has threatened Dhanbad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prabhat Kumar, accusing him of involvement in unlawful activities. The alleged video of Khan was posted by Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi on his X account on Thursday. In his post, Marandi demanded a thorough probe into the allegations and the immediate removal of Kumar from his post. The SSP, however, did not respond to the video until the time of filing this report.
Details of the Threat
In the video, Khan accused the SSP of protecting illegal activities in the district. He further claimed that businessmen who are not cooperating with the police are being threatened. The gangster also alleged that the SSP projects himself as honest while being involved in unlawful activities. This is not the first time Khan has made such allegations; he has a history of targeting law enforcement officials.
Background of the Incident
Khan's alleged video came shortly after the arrest of his associate, Syed Abbas Naqvi, also known as Saifi or Major. The police recently claimed that Naqvi, who was arrested in Kolkata on April 19, has revealed the inner workings of Khan's gang. This development has put the Dhanbad police under scrutiny, as the opposition demands action against the SSP.
Babulal Marandi, a prominent political figure, has called for a high-level investigation into the allegations. He stated, "The safety and security of the citizens of Dhanbad are paramount. If these allegations are true, the SSP must be removed immediately to restore public trust." The state government has not yet issued a statement on the matter.
The arrest of Naqvi is seen as a major breakthrough in the crackdown on Khan's gang. Police sources indicate that Naqvi's interrogation has led to several leads, including information about the gang's operations and links to other criminal networks. However, Khan remains at large, and his latest threat has raised concerns about the effectiveness of the police force in the region.
The Dhanbad police have been facing criticism for their handling of organized crime. This incident adds to the growing pressure on the administration to take decisive action against gangsters and their associates. Meanwhile, residents of Dhanbad are anxious about the security situation, with many calling for a transparent and impartial investigation into the SSP's conduct.
