Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel Inaugurates 11,607 Police Recruits, Stresses Human Rights
Gujarat CM inducts 11,607 Lok Rakshak jawans, stresses human rights

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel officially inducted a massive batch of 11,607 new police personnel into the state force on Tuesday, December 24, 2025. During a public ceremony held in Gandhinagar, the CM distributed appointment letters to the Lok Rakshak jawans while outlining the fundamental principles they must uphold while serving the public.

Core Principles for the New Police Force

Addressing the new recruits, Chief Minister Patel laid down a clear mandate centered on ethical policing. He emphasized that respect for human rights, strict compliance with constitutional values, and maintaining absolute impartiality are non-negotiable requirements for officers tasked with implementing the law.

"Restraint in behaviour, humility in words, and sincerity in work should be your priority," Patel advised the gathering. He reminded them that citizens in distress instinctively turn to the police for help, and a good officer cultivates public trust while enforcing the law.

Technology and Humanity: The Dual Pillars

The Chief Minister noted that the infusion of a large number of tech-savvy young recruits not only boosts the police force's numerical strength but also significantly enhances its capacity. However, he cautioned that technology is merely a tool. The real strength of the police, he asserted, lies in humanity, honesty, and courage.

Patel also recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi's interpretation of the acronym 'POLICE': Polite, Obedient, Intelligent, Courageous, and Enthusiastic. He expressed confidence that the new jawans would act on PM Modi's guiding mantra of 'Nagrik Devo Bhava' (The Citizen is like God).

Transparent Recruitment and State Development

Referring to the ongoing recruitment drives in Gujarat, CM Patel stated that the state government prioritizes the 'ease of living' for its citizens. To achieve this, he explained, it is essential for all state departments to have a sufficient workforce. He highlighted that the government is conducting these recruitment processes in a "transparent and timely manner."

Patel credited the prevailing "peace and security" in Gujarat, maintained by the police force, as a key reason why global companies are choosing to invest in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, who was also present at the event, urged the recruits to remember their roots. He stated that the khaki uniform empowers them to curb evil elements in society and expressed hope that they would be helpful to every citizen approaching them.

The ceremony was attended by senior officials including Director General of Police Vikas Sahay and Police Bharti Board Chairperson Neerja Gotru.

Preceding Crime Conference Focused on Public Trust

Earlier on the same day, CM Patel and Dy CM Sanghavi had inaugurated a two-day Crime Conference for the Gujarat Police in Gandhinagar. During that event, the Chief Minister called upon senior police officers to work towards strengthening the bridge of trust between the police and the public. The goal, he said, is to ensure that citizens do not face any difficulty when they need to connect with the police.

The conference saw participation from police officers of various ranks, focusing on strategies to enhance law enforcement and community relations in the state.
