Chennai: Ahead of the formation of a new government led by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, senior IPS officers have initiated efforts to secure key postings, including the city police commissioners and state intelligence chief, sources said.
Senior Officers Meet Vijay
Senior IPS officers, including DGPs Sandeep Rai Rathore and Davidson Devasirvatham, ADGP Amalraj, and IGs N Kannan and IGP Ramya Bharathi, have already met Vijay and conveyed greetings.
Precursor to Large-Scale Reshuffle
As a precursor to a large-scale police reshuffle, P Dharmarajan, Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Vellore range, was assigned charge of the Core Cell CID, which handles the chief minister's convoy and route security. S Thirunavukarasu, who held the post till now, has been shifted out.
Officers across ranks, ranging from inspectors to deputy superintendents and additional superintendents and superintendents of police, approached senior officials, political intermediaries, and individuals connected to the party leadership to seek favourable postings. Sources said some officers attempted to reach Vijay through his associates, relatives, and contacts in the film industry.
