Visakhapatnam: Jana Sena Party leader Peethala Murthy Yadav has demanded the cancellation of building permissions granted to the multi-storied MVV Peak project being constructed by former Visakhapatnam MP MVV Satyanarayana. Murthy submitted a representation to GVMC commissioner Ketan Garg during the weekly grievance programme on Monday. He urged the authorities to immediately take possession of the land identified for the TDR allocation from the former MP.
Alleged Irregularities in TDR Issuance
Murthy stated that Transferable Development Rights (TDRs) should not have been granted without the submission of mandatory documents such as encumbrance certificates, land ownership records, and urban land ceiling clearances required for building plan approvals. He highlighted that TDRs worth Rs 128 crore used in the project were linked to alleged irregularities in TDR issuances related to a project in the Kakinada Municipal Corporation. A High Court case challenging the validity of those TDRs is currently pending. The state government had earlier suspended the Sarpavaram sub-registrar in connection with alleged irregularities involving those TDR bonds, while no action has been taken to cancel the disputed TDRs so far.
Demand for Action Against Officials
Murthy claimed that the file relating to the former MP's project moved from GVMC to the Directorate of Town and Country Planning within five days. He further alleged that construction activities had commenced nearly ten days before obtaining the necessary approvals. He demanded the suspension of officials who allowed the work to begin without the required permissions.
