Kanpur Tragedy: 11-Year-Old Student Dies by Suicide After Locking Family in Room
In a deeply distressing incident, an 11-year-old Class V student allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Radhe Nagar, located under the jurisdiction of the Chakeri police station in Kanpur. The tragic event unfolded on Saturday afternoon, sending shockwaves through the local community.

According to preliminary reports, the young victim, a student at a private school, returned home around 11 am on Saturday. Initially, she was observed playing with her siblings, showing no immediate signs of distress. However, her mother noted that the girl, identified as Kajal, appeared unusually withdrawn and different from her normal self after coming back from school.
The mother recounted that Kajal would typically chat with friends after school hours, but would often become angry when reminded to concentrate on her studies. This behavioral pattern had been noted previously, but Saturday's demeanor was particularly concerning.
The Fateful Afternoon
At approximately 1 pm, the situation took a tragic turn. The girl reportedly locked her mother and brother inside a room of their house, effectively isolating them. After securing the room, she is alleged to have hanged herself.
When her mother sensed that something was seriously wrong, she began screaming for help. Her cries alerted neighbors, who rushed to the scene. Responding quickly, the neighbors managed to break open the terrace door to gain entry into the house. Unfortunately, by the time they reached the girl, it was too late to save her.
Police Investigation Underway
Upon receiving the alert, Chakeri police station in-charge Ajay Prakash Mishra promptly arrived at the location. "We are thoroughly investigating what circumstances led the young girl to take this extreme step," Mishra stated.
