Thiruvananthapuram: Following the Left Democratic Front's (LDF) significant defeat in the Kerala assembly elections, caretaker chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan returned to the state capital on Tuesday morning. He arrived in Thiruvananthapuram from Kannur, where he had been earlier.
Silence at Kannur Airport
At Kannur airport, Vijayan avoided interacting with reporters and walked into the terminal without responding to questions. When journalists repeatedly asked whether he had anything to say, he maintained silence. A similar scene unfolded upon his arrival in Thiruvananthapuram, where he again remained silent in response to queries from the media.
Unusual Travel Arrangements
Notably, the outgoing chief minister travelled without his usual security convoy. He was accompanied by his wife and daughter in a private vehicle that had arrived from AKG Centre. The car then left the airport for Cliff House, the official residence of the chief minister.
CPM leaders V Sivankutty, A A Rahim, and V Joy were present at the airport to receive him.
Plans to Vacate Cliff House
Meanwhile, indications are that Vijayan will vacate Cliff House soon. Sources said arrangements are being made to accommodate him in a two-room apartment on the third floor of a flat owned by Chintha Publishers. This move suggests that the caretaker CM is preparing for a transition after the electoral setback.
