Following extensive trial runs, the newly constructed Bailey bridge linking Salt Lake's AA Block and VIP Road at Dakshindari in Kolkata has officially opened for two-way vehicular movement. The bridge is currently operational daily from 7 am until 10 pm, providing a significant boost to local connectivity and easing traffic congestion in the area.

The Bidhannagar traffic police initiated a comprehensive trial run of the bridge starting on the evening of February 11. Installation of height bars to restrict the entry of very heavy vehicles exceeding 100 metric tonnes, preventing potential structural damage.
Deployment of CCTV cameras for continuous surveillance and monitoring of traffic activities on the bridge.
Establishment of a traffic signal system on the VIP Road approach end to regulate vehicle movement and reduce congestion.

Once these measures are fully in place, the bridge may be considered for 24-hour operation, further improving accessibility for commuters.
