In the 2026 Assembly elections, Dr. Asif Mohammad Nazar of the Indian National Congress (INC) emerged victorious. He defeated Siddique Ahmed of the All India Democratic Front and Kholilur Rahman of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), who was the candidate representing the BJP-led alliance.

2021 Assembly Election Results

The constituency had 1,86,704 registered voters in the 2021 Assam Assembly elections, with 1,63,369 valid votes cast. Congress candidate Dr. Asif Mohammad Nazar won the seat with 60,932 votes. Independent candidate Siddique Ahmed finished second with 58,904 votes, losing by a narrow margin of 2,028 votes.

2016 Assembly Election Results

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Laharighat had 1,60,723 electors, with 1,39,870 valid votes recorded. Congress candidate Dr. Nazrul Islam won with 57,904 votes, defeating All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) candidate Siddique Ahmed, who secured 52,098 votes. The victory margin was 5,806 votes.
