West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a fierce critique against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, accusing him of adding an "unprecedented and improper prefix" to the name of Sri Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsadeva while paying tributes on his birth anniversary.

Today is the janmatithi of Yugavatara Sri Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsadeva. While trying to hail the great saint on this occasion, our PM added an unprecedented and improper prefix to the great saint's name, 'Swami'!"
The Chief Minister elaborated on the historical and religious context, explaining that Sri Ramakrishna was traditionally revered as Thakur (meaning God), while his ascetic disciples who formed the Ramakrishna Math and Mission were called 'Swami'. She emphasized that the holy trinity of the Ramakrishna Order consists of Thakur (Sri Ramakrishna), Ma (Ma Sarada), and Swamiji (Swami Vivekananda).
