Thiruvananthapuram: Fort police arrested a 40-year-old man on Thursday for allegedly attacking a youth with a beer bottle after the victim questioned him for using obscene language in public at Muttathara. The accused was identified as Sunil, a resident of Muttathara.
Incident Details
The incident occurred around 5pm on Tuesday. According to police, the accused was allegedly creating a nuisance in the area by using abusive and obscene language. When the complainant objected to his behavior and asked him to stop using foul language, the accused allegedly turned violent. In a fit of rage, he picked up a beer bottle and struck the youth on the head, causing injuries.
Victim's Condition
The victim reportedly sustained bleeding injuries and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.
Police Action
Following the incident, Fort police registered a case and launched an investigation. The accused was later taken into custody. Police said evidence collected during the probe, including witness statements, confirmed the assault. The accused was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are recording further statements to ascertain the sequence of events. Authorities have urged the public to report any such incidents to maintain law and order in the area.
