Meghalaya Reshuffles Deputy Commissioners in Key Districts

The Meghalaya government has appointed Abhilash Baranwal as the new deputy commissioner of East Khasi Hills district, which includes the state capital Shillong. Baranwal, who previously served as deputy commissioner of Ri-Bhoi district, replaces Rosetta Mary Kurbah. Kurbah has been transferred and will now serve as commissioner and secretary in the home (police) and tourism departments.

Other Key Appointments

In a broader bureaucratic reshuffle announced on Tuesday, several other officials have been moved to new positions. Abhishek Saini, who was deputy commissioner of North Garo Hills district, has been appointed as the new deputy commissioner of Ri-Bhoi district, taking over from Baranwal.

Barnari Mawlong has been relieved as deputy commissioner of South West Khasi Hills district and posted as secretary in the health and family welfare department. Aitinolin L Mawlong has been appointed as the new deputy commissioner of South West Khasi Hills district.

Additional Responsibilities

Tennystar R Marak, who currently serves as additional deputy commissioner and is in-charge of North Garo Hills district based in Resubelpara, has been tasked with additional responsibilities. He will now also oversee the office of the deputy commissioner in addition to his existing duties.

These changes are part of the state government's ongoing administrative adjustments to ensure efficient governance across the districts.
