Mini Airport & Agri-Conclave for Burhanpur Announced by CM

Madhya Pradesh CM Unveils Major Development Push for Burhanpur and Khandwa

In a significant move to enhance regional connectivity and economic growth, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced on Saturday that a mini airport will be established in Burhanpur. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve transportation links and stimulate local development in the district.

Boosting Agriculture and Industry Integration

To empower local farmers, the Chief Minister revealed plans for an agriculture-based regional industry conclave in Burhanpur. This event aims to bridge the gap between farming and industrial processing, with a particular focus on the district's renowned banana and cotton sectors. Yadav sanctioned the setting up of specialized value-addition, storage, and processing units to support these efforts, ensuring that agricultural produce can be efficiently converted into higher-value products.

Additionally, the CM approved the payment of outstanding dues for workers of the Burhanpur Cooperative Yarn Mill, addressing long-standing financial concerns and bolstering worker welfare in the region.

Inauguration of 80 Projects Worth Rs 696.37 Crore

During a roadshow from Shikaripura to Nehru Stadium, Chief Minister Yadav inaugurated and laid the foundation for 80 projects with a total value of Rs 696.37 crore. Key highlights of these projects include:

  • A critical care unit at the district hospital to enhance healthcare services.
  • New powerloom clusters to boost textile manufacturing and create employment opportunities.
  • An upgrade of Shahpur Municipal Council to a Municipality, aimed at improving local governance and infrastructure.

During the event, MLA Archana Chitnis proposed renaming Burhanpur to 'Brahmpur' and including Shahpur in the 'Ramachandra Gaman Path,' though no official decision was announced regarding these suggestions.

Ladli Behna Yojana and Women Empowerment Initiatives

Earlier in Khandwa, CM Yadav transferred Rs 1,836 crore as the 33rd instalment of the Ladli Behna Yojana into the accounts of 1.25 crore women. This scheme continues to provide financial support to women across the state, reinforcing the government's commitment to gender equality and economic empowerment.

Addressing the gathering, Yadav announced a Rs 5,000 incentive for cotton industries that employ women. This measure is part of his vision to make the Nimar region a leader in both irrigation and industrial employment, promoting inclusive growth and job creation for women in key sectors.

The announcements underscore the state government's focus on holistic development, combining infrastructure projects with agricultural and industrial initiatives to drive progress in Madhya Pradesh.
