In a significant boost for job aspirants, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has personally intervened to expand the scope of the upcoming Odisha Civil Services Examination (OCSE)-2025. The move will see the inclusion of an additional 151 government posts, a decision that rectifies a recent omission and opens more doors for the state's youth.
Chief Minister's Swift Intervention Corrects Course
The need for action arose after the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) issued an advertisement for the OCSE-2025 on Wednesday. Aspirants and officials noted that the highly coveted posts under the Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) and Odisha Revenue Service (ORS) were missing from the notification. Learning of the issue, CM Majhi immediately ordered a review of all vacant positions across departments.
His directive was clear: ensure all vacant posts are identified and included in the recruitment process. This prompt review led to the formal request to the OPSC to fill a total of 151 posts. The breakdown includes 14 positions in the OAS, 113 in the ORS, 16 in the Odisha Transport Service (OTS), and 8 in the Odisha Welfare Service (OWS).
Expanding Opportunities for Merit-Based Success
Announcing the decision on Saturday, Chief Minister Majhi emphasized his government's commitment to employment generation. "This move will enable many aspiring young men and women to take the exam and achieve success based on their merit," he stated. He highlighted that the state government has filled approximately 40,000 government positions in the past 18 months, underscoring the priority placed on job creation.
Furthermore, the CM has issued instructions to all government departments. He has mandated that they must recommend all their vacant positions to the respective recruiting commissions well before the notifications for upcoming examinations are issued. This systemic change aims to prevent such omissions in the future.
Revised Advertisement to Be Issued Soon
The original OPSC advertisement for OCSE-2025 listed 314 posts, of which 14 were for the Odisha Police Service (OPS) under Group-A, with the remainder under Group-B. Explaining the initial exclusion of OAS and ORS posts, Surendra Kumar, Secretary of the General Administration and Public Grievance Department, cited a delay in receiving the consolidated list.
"As December 31, 2025, was the last date to issue the advertisement, we issued it without adding OAS and OFS posts," Kumar said. He assured that the oversight is being corrected. "We will issue a supplementary advertisement by adding the OAS and OFS posts. A revised advertisement will be issued very soon," he added.
This correction aligns with the established pattern where the annual OCSE advertisement typically includes posts for OAS, OFS (Odisha Financial Service), and ORS. For instance, OCSE-2024 included 30 OAS and 46 OFS posts.
The Chief Minister's proactive step is set to positively impact thousands of civil service aspirants in Odisha, offering them a wider array of opportunities in the state's administrative machinery through the merit-based OCSE-2025 recruitment process.
