In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, DMK candidate S. Murugesan emerged victorious, securing 84,864 votes. He defeated AIADMK's N. Sadhan Prabhakar by a margin of 13,285 votes.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, the AIADMK's Dr. S. Muthiah won the seat with 79,254 votes, defeating DMK's U. Thisaiveran by a margin of 13,389 votes.
