On International Labour Day, employees of Punbus and PRTC (Punjab Road Transport Corporation) in Amritsar organized a rally to voice their demands. The workers marched through the city, carrying placards and chanting slogans, highlighting issues such as inadequate wages, lack of job security, and poor working conditions.
Demands of the Workers
The primary demands included a significant increase in basic pay, regularization of contractual employees, and provision of medical facilities. The workers also called for the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations and timely payment of salaries.
Union Leaders Speak Out
Union leaders addressed the gathering, emphasizing the need for immediate government intervention. They warned of intensified protests if their demands were not met. The rally concluded with a memorandum submitted to the district administration.
