Rajasthan MLA Joins Protest Against RSMML Mining

Jaisalmer: Sheo MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati on Tuesday joined an ongoing protest at Girol village in Barmer district, where farmers and local residents have been demonstrating since April 9 over allegations related to Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Limited (RSMML)'s lignite mining operations.

Protest Intensifies

Bhati arrived at the protest site around 4 pm, sat with the demonstrators, and stayed overnight. The protesters stated that the agitation has continued for 26 days. "Until their demands are met, I will sit here with them," Bhati declared.

Allegations Against RSMML

Farmers and local youth alleged that RSMML acquired land in Thumbli and nearby areas for lignite mining, promising jobs to locals. However, instead of fulfilling these promises, the company terminated several youth from employment, sparking widespread anger.

The protest has drawn attention to the broader issues of corporate accountability and land rights in the region. Demonstrators have vowed to continue their sit-in until the state government and RSMML address their grievances, including job reinstatement and fair compensation.
