Ramgarh District Achieves Remarkable 45% Surplus in Mining Revenue Collection

In a significant economic development, Ramgarh district in Jharkhand has reported an impressive mining revenue collection of Rs 1,236 crore for the current fiscal year, substantially exceeding the state government's target. This achievement highlights the district's robust performance in the mining sector, which plays a crucial role in its local economy.

Revenue Performance Exceeds Expectations

According to official data, the revenue collected from mining activities in Ramgarh has surpassed the assigned target of Rs 1,193 crore by a notable 45%. This collection was accomplished within the first eleven months of the 2025-26 fiscal year, which concludes on March 31. District Mining Officer (DMO) Nishant Abhishek confirmed these figures, stating, "Ramgarh collected Rs 1,236 crore as mining revenue against the Rs 1,193 crore target in 11 months of the 2025-26 fiscal year."

This represents a substantial increase compared to the previous fiscal year. In 2024-25, the mining revenue stood at Rs 862 crore, indicating a year-on-year growth that underscores the district's enhanced efficiency and regulatory measures in the mining industry.

Enforcement Actions Against Illegal Mining

Alongside the revenue success, the district has intensified its crackdown on illegal mining activities. Authorities have registered a total of 59 First Information Reports (FIRs) related to illegal mining and the unauthorized transportation of minerals across various police stations in Ramgarh. In a decisive move, 133 vehicles involved in these illicit operations have been seized, and fines amounting to Rs 5 lakh have been imposed on violators.

Additionally, the department has generated Rs 66.44 lakh from the auctioning of stones, further contributing to the overall revenue stream. These enforcement actions demonstrate the district's commitment to curbing unlawful practices and ensuring sustainable mining operations.

District Mineral Foundation Trust Contributions

It is important to note that the mining revenue collected is distinct from the funds allocated to the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT). The DMFT is specifically dedicated to the development and welfare of villages affected by mining activities. Ramgarh district consistently contributes an average of Rs 150 crore annually to the DMFT, supporting infrastructure, healthcare, education, and other community initiatives in mining-affected areas.

This dual focus on revenue generation and social responsibility reflects a balanced approach to mining management, aiming to boost economic growth while addressing the environmental and social impacts on local communities.

The achievements in Ramgarh serve as a model for other mining districts, showcasing how effective governance and strict enforcement can lead to significant fiscal benefits and improved regulatory compliance in the sector.
