RJD Workers Take Over Security at Rabri Devi's Patna Home After Cover Downgrade
RJD Workers Guard Rabri Devi's Home After Security Cut

In a significant political development, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) workers have taken over the security duties outside the official residence of former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi in Patna. This move comes a day after Rabri Devi asked the official security personnel to leave following the downgrading of her security cover and that of RJD national president Lalu Prasad Yadav. Previously, both leaders enjoyed Z+ security, which was replaced by personnel from the Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP).

RJD Workers Initiate Round-the-Clock Security

The workers are guarding the bungalow located at 10, Circular Road in shifts, with each team performing eight-hour duty. RJD legislator and state business cell president Ranvijay Sahu explained the rationale behind the move. "We cannot leave them exposed to inimical forces. RJD workers have taken full control of the leaders' security and are providing it on a rotation basis," Sahu said. He added that around 20 workers are deployed in each shift to ensure continuous vigilance.

Voluntary Duty and Rotation System

RJD state general secretary Bhai Arun stated that party workers voluntarily took up the security responsibilities. "We are equally alert at night, and no one is allowed to enter without proper verification and security checks," Arun said. He mentioned that arrangements for food and rest have been made for those on duty. "Until Lalu and Rabri's security is restored, we will guard their home. All are doing duty willingly and happily," he added.

Another party worker, Anand Kumar Yadav alias Nandu Yadav, emphasized the importance of their leaders. "Our leaders are our strength, and we cannot leave them alone at this critical moment," he said, confirming the rotation system and noting that they have been standing guard for two days.

Background: Security Downgrade and Residence Dispute

The development follows a decision by the Bihar state government to downgrade the security cover of Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi after a meeting of the State Security Committee. The issue is compounded by a dispute over Rabri Devi's official residence. The bungalow was recently allotted to a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minister, and she was asked to vacate it within a fortnight. However, Rabri Devi has resisted the move, stating, "They can call the force to vacate the place, but I will not vacate the place."

Political Implications

The RJD's decision to provide its own security highlights the deepening political tensions in Bihar. Party workers remain steadfast in their commitment to protect their leaders, reflecting the strong organizational loyalty within the RJD. The situation continues to evolve, with both the security downgrade and the residence dispute drawing significant attention from political observers and the public alike.
