Tejashwi Yadav Slams Bihar Government Over Delayed Teacher Recruitment Exam

Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, launched a sharp attack on the state government on Thursday, accusing the BJP-JD(U) administration of ignoring the youth of Bihar by delaying the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE) 4.0. Yadav demanded the immediate release of vacancies for the exam, highlighting that nearly a year has passed since a public promise was made.

Accusations of Neglect and Broken Promises

In a strongly worded statement, Yadav targeted Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, recalling that during the 2025 election year, Kumar had promised via a social media post that vacancies for teachers in government schools would be counted and the TRE-4.0 examination would be conducted promptly. "Despite nearly one year passing since that announcement, the government has still not released even the vacancy details for TRE-4.0," Yadav asserted.

He further pointed out that according to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) calendar, the examination should have been held in August 2024. Yadav alleged that the ruling alliance deliberately indicated the exam would be in October 2025, pushing it back until the model code of conduct came into force. "That is what happened, and even after elections and the formation of the government, teacher aspirants continue to wait," he lamented.

Contrasting Records: Mahagathbandhan vs. NDA

Drawing a stark contrast with his own tenure as Deputy Chief Minister during the Mahagathbandhan government, Yadav claimed that in just 17 months, his administration had achieved significant recruitment milestones. He stated that under the RJD's oversight of the education department, teacher recruitment under TRE-1 and TRE-2 was executed on a "war footing" within stipulated timelines, without any paper leaks and with full transparency.

"Appointment letters were issued and joining completed for a record more than 2.20 lakh candidates," Yadav emphasized. He added that the process for TRE-3.0 was also initiated during his tenure, but after the Mahagathbandhan government fell in January 2024, the exam was cancelled due to a paper leak and only conducted after considerable delays.

Yadav boasted that during his 17-month stint, he had provided jobs to 5 lakh youth and initiated the process for over 3.50 lakh additional appointments, underscoring his commitment to Bihar's employment needs.

JD(U) Hits Back, Defends Government's Record

In response to Tejashwi's allegations, JD(U) spokesperson Anjum Ara countered sharply, asserting that it was under Nitish Kumar's leadership that TRE-1 and TRE-2 were successfully conducted. "Nitish Ji was the CM and not Tejashwi. In fact, it was because of Nitish Ji that Tejashwi became the deputy CM," she stated.

Ara further questioned Yadav's moral standing, referencing past scandals. "People involved in scams like land for job have no moral value to talk about corruption," she remarked. She also clarified that the notification and application process for TRE-4.0 is currently in its final stages, suggesting that the government is actively working on the recruitment.

Broader Political Context and Law and Order Critique

These attacks coincided with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's departure for Delhi and a day ahead of his oath for membership of the Rajya Sabha, adding a layer of political timing to the criticism. Additionally, other RJD leaders, including spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav, targeted the state government over the law and order situation in Bihar, broadening the scope of their critique beyond just education and employment issues.

The ongoing debate highlights the intense political rivalry in Bihar, with the opposition RJD leveraging youth employment as a key issue to challenge the ruling NDA coalition. As teacher aspirants await clarity on TRE-4.0, the political discourse continues to center on governance, transparency, and the fulfillment of electoral promises.
