Tejashwi Yadav slams NDA govt, says only 3 running Bihar

Patna: Leader of opposition in Bihar assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the ruling NDA, alleging the “current govt is being run by only three people”.

“For a fortnight now, only three people have been running Bihar. With an incomplete cabinet and without any consultation, deliberation or reflection, these individuals are taking arbitrary decisions in an undemocratic manner,” Tejashwi alleged in a social media post on Thursday. He was referring to chief minister Samrat Choudhary and his two deputies, Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav, who were the only leaders sworn in during the oath-taking ceremony.

The attack comes at a time when the newly formed Samrat government is yet to expand its cabinet even a fortnight after assuming office, replacing the Nitish Kumar government. It is widely believed the cabinet expansion will take place after the counting of votes for the Bengal Assembly elections.

Accusing the NDA of being preoccupied with government formations, Tejashwi said in the past six years there have been five formations and reorganisations of the government, and in 12 years, 10 such instances have occurred. “Nitish Kumar’s bizarre ideology plunged the governance system into darkness, creating administrative chaos, social instability and a state of indecision, rendering Bihar directionless and its people objects of ridicule,” he alleged.

The former deputy chief minister further alleged the state is currently “trapped in a vicious cycle of unchecked bureaucracy, uncontrolled corruption, a collapsed law and order system, financial mismanagement, opaque work styles, indiscipline, a corrupt work culture, poverty, migration, unemployment and distrust.”

Pointing to last year’s polls, Tejashwi said, “The entire country knows this government acquired majority through machinery, apparatus and conspiracy,” and alleged the 21-year-old NDA government is grappling with a “serious economic crisis”.

Countering the charges, BJP spokesperson Prabhakar Kumar Mishra said the Leader of Opposition is left with little work other than criticising rivals. Referring to Tejashwi’s claim that nearly half of the first year of the new government’s tenure was wasted without any significant work, Mishra said, “Whether three or 33 ministers, the NDA government’s work continues with same momentum.”
