TVK chief C Joseph Vijay is set to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium at 10 am. Vijay has secured the support of 120 MLAs after VCK and IUML extended unconditional backing to his party.
Governor's Appointment
On Saturday evening, Vijay met the Governor at Lok Bhavan and submitted a letter informing about his election as the leader of the TVK legislature party, along with letters of support from Congress, CPI, CPM, VCK and IUML. The Governor subsequently appointed him Chief Minister and invited him to form the government, directing him to seek a floor test by May 13.
Key Political Support
Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge are likely to attend the ceremony, signaling strong alliance backing. The trust vote, scheduled by May 13, will confirm the majority support for the new government.
This development marks a significant political shift in Tamil Nadu, with Vijay's TVK forming a coalition government after securing cross-party support. The swearing-in event is expected to draw large crowds and political dignitaries from across the spectrum.
