Two Killed, Three Critically Injured in Unnao Motorcycle Collision
A devastating head-on collision between two motorcycles near Gauri village on the Miyaganj-Safipur road in Unnao district has resulted in two fatalities and left three individuals, including two young children, in critical condition. The tragic accident occurred late Monday evening in the jurisdiction of the Safipur police station, casting a shadow over the local community.
Details of the Fatal Crash
The deceased have been identified as Chhote Lal, a 25-year-old resident of Lalta Kheda village, and Basant, a 35-year-old from Udsah village. According to police reports and eyewitness accounts, Chhote Lal was riding a motorcycle carrying his sister-in-law Malti (35), who is the wife of Purushottam, along with his brother Ramnaresh's two children: Krishna (7) and Naina (5). The group was en route to the home of Chhote's sister, Preeti, in Jamunihakachh village to attend a birthday celebration.
As they approached Gauri village, their motorcycle collided head-on with another motorcycle being driven by Basant. The impact was severe, throwing all individuals from both vehicles onto the road. Malti and the two children sustained serious injuries in the crash, while the riders of both motorcycles were also critically hurt.
Emergency Response and Hospitalization
With the assistance of passers-by and a man named Rahul, who was following on another motorcycle, the injured were quickly transported to the community health centre in Safipur. Upon arrival, medical professionals examined Chhote Lal and declared him dead at the facility. The other victims—Malti, her two children, and Basant—were in such critical condition that they were immediately referred to the district hospital for advanced medical care.
Tragically, Basant succumbed to his injuries during the transfer to the district hospital, bringing the death toll to two. The remaining three victims are currently receiving treatment at the hospital, with their conditions described as serious by medical authorities.
Background of the Victims
Family members provided additional context about the lives of the deceased. Chhote Lal worked as a labourer in Bengaluru and had returned to his home village just a few days prior to the accident, likely to visit family and attend the birthday gathering. Basant was employed at a cement equipment manufacturing factory in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, indicating he may have been traveling through the area or visiting family as well.

Station House Officer SN Tripathi of the Safipur police station confirmed that officers rushed to the accident scene immediately after receiving notification of the crash. Police took formal charge of the bodies of Chhote Lal and Basant and arranged for their transfer to a medical facility for post-mortem examinations, which are standard procedure in such fatal incidents. The investigation into the exact cause of the collision is ongoing, with authorities examining road conditions, vehicle speeds, and other potential factors.
