UP Congress Demands Compensation and Employment for Family of Electrocuted Worker

In a significant move, the Uttar Pradesh Congress has formally written to Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd (MVVNL), demanding substantial relief for the family of a contractual employee who tragically died of electrocution on Saturday. The party is seeking Rs 25 lakh as ex gratia payment and a government job for an eligible family member to support the bereaved household.

Congress Leaders Visit Bereaved Family

UP Congress president Ajay Rai personally visited the family of the deceased worker, Parshuram, who lost his life while working on an 83 kV power line. During his visit, Rai expressed deep condolences and highlighted the dire circumstances of the family. He emphasized that Parshuram belonged to an extremely poor background and was the sole breadwinner, leaving behind three daughters.

"The untimely death of Parshuram has plunged his family into severe distress," Rai stated. "The government must provide immediate financial assistance and ensure a government job for a qualified family member to safeguard the upbringing and education of the children."

Commitment to Follow-Up and Relief Efforts

Adding to the party's stance, Lucknow district president Rudra Daman Singh affirmed that the Congress would persistently follow up with the authorities to secure relief for the family. This initiative underscores the party's focus on labor rights and welfare for underprivileged workers in the state.

The demand for ex gratia and employment comes amid broader concerns about the safety and compensation for contractual employees in hazardous jobs. The Congress's action aims to address these issues and provide a safety net for families affected by such tragedies.
