UP Women Commission Hears 5 Cases in Kanpur

In a proactive move to address grievances, the Uttar Pradesh State Women's Commission conducted a public hearing in Kanpur this Wednesday, resolving multiple complaints on the spot.

Swift Action on Women's Grievances

The hearing, held at the Circuit House, saw Commission member Poonam Dwivedi receive and address a total of five complaints. The primary objective was to ensure the timely and effective disposal of cases concerning women, adhering strictly to established rules and procedures.

Spot Resolution and Directives Issued

One of the cases involved an issue related to old age pension. This matter was promptly resolved during the hearing itself through immediate coordination with the concerned officials. For the remaining cases, Member Dwivedi gave them a serious hearing and issued clear instructions.

She directed the officers from the relevant departments to examine these cases as per rules, ensure timely action, and subsequently submit a progress report to the Commission. Poonam Dwivedi made it unequivocally clear that any form of laxity or negligence in disposing of cases related to women would not be tolerated.

Commission's Stance on Women's Rights

Emphasizing the Commission's core priorities, Dwivedi stated that the protection, respect, and empowerment of women's rights are of paramount importance. She stressed the necessity for a fair, transparent, and quick resolution process for cases brought forward during such public hearings.

Her directives to officials included handling matters related to pension, family disputes, harassment, and women's social security with utmost sensitivity. She also underscored the need for timely delivery of government scheme benefits to all eligible beneficiaries.

The hearing was attended by several key officials, including SDM Bilhaur Satyapal Prajapati, District Probation Officer Vikas Singh, District Programme Officer Priti Sinha, and advocates from the District Legal Services Authority, ensuring multi-departmental coordination for effective redressal.
