The Punjab Police's anti-drug campaign, 'Yudh Nashiyan Virudh', has intensified in the Jalandhar range, with authorities registering 1,435 drug-related cases so far. The crackdown, which began earlier this year, aims to curb the menace of drug abuse and trafficking in the region.
Arrests and Seizures
In connection with these cases, police have arrested 1,890 individuals, including both peddlers and users. During the operations, law enforcement agencies have seized substantial quantities of drugs, including heroin, opium, and pharmaceutical preparations. Additionally, cash and vehicles used in illicit activities have been confiscated.
Police Operations
The campaign involves coordinated efforts by local police stations, special task forces, and intelligence units. Raids are conducted in identified hotspots, and surveillance has been increased at border areas and transit routes. Senior police officials are monitoring progress regularly.
Community Involvement
Authorities have also emphasized community participation, encouraging citizens to report suspicious activities. Awareness programs are being held in schools, colleges, and rural areas to educate the public about the dangers of drug abuse.
The Jalandhar range has been a focus area due to its proximity to the border and high incidence of drug trafficking. The police have vowed to continue the drive until the drug trade is significantly disrupted.
