The New Orleans Saints' star running back Alvin Kamara has been at the center of trade speculation for several months. Although numerous rival teams have been linked to the five-time Pro Bowler, recent reports suggest the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks have emerged as the most likely destinations.
Teams Interested in Alvin Kamara
According to NFL insiders, the Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, and Green Bay Packers have all shown interest in acquiring Kamara. However, the Broncos and Seahawks appear to be the frontrunners in the trade discussions.
Insider Insights on Trade Rumors
CBS Sports' Bryan DeArdo recently predicted that the Broncos and Seahawks could be potential landing spots for Kamara. In a report, DeArdo stated, "While Kamara may want to stay put, the Saints may still choose to move on from him while saving $14 million in salary cap space. A trade would require another team to make an offer that justifies parting ways with a franchise icon." He added, "The Broncos and Seahawks, two teams with serious Super Bowl aspirations, are among the potential landing spots for Kamara."
Contract and Salary Cap Implications
Kamara has one year remaining on his contract, making him an unrestricted free agent in 2027. Trading him would free up $3.38 million in salary cap space for the Saints in 2026. Since the June 1 deadline has passed, New Orleans can split his remaining $15.2 million dead-money penalty over two seasons: $7.07 million in 2026 and $8.14 million in 2027. The acquiring team would take on a $3.38 million cap hit and pay $11.5 million in active cash.
Potential Return for the Saints
Given Kamara's age and the cash cost, the Saints are projected to receive a mid-round pick, likely a 4th or 5th-round selection, in exchange for the star running back.
Impact on Teams
For the New Orleans Saints: Trading Kamara would save $11.5 million in cash and allow them to lean on Travis Etienne Jr. as the starter in the upcoming season.
For the Denver Broncos: Reuniting Kamara with his former coach Sean Payton could be highly impactful. Kamara's experience as a pass-catching weapon would boost the Broncos' offense significantly.
For the Seattle Seahawks: While Kamara could mentor younger players like Jadarian Price in the absence of Kenneth Walker III, his high cost may be a concern for the team.
