Sebastien Buemi Celebrates Toyota's Historic Victory at 6 Hours of Imola
Formula E driver Sebastien Buemi, competing for Envision Racing in the electric series, had a triumphant weekend as he contributed to Toyota Gazoo Racing's victory in the World Endurance Championship's prestigious 6 Hours of Imola. Alongside teammates Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa, Buemi drove the Toyota GR010 Hybrid Hypercar to a significant win in Italy, which was witnessed by an enthusiastic crowd of over 92,000 fans.
A Milestone Achievement for Toyota
This victory held special significance as it marked Toyota's 100th race in the World Endurance Championship and its 50th win, a remarkable milestone in the team's history. During the post-race celebrations, Buemi took the wheel of the car while his teammates sat on either side, highlighting the collaborative effort. Toyota Gazoo Racing commemorated the event by sharing a video montage on Instagram with the caption: "One for the history books. 100th race. 50th win. TR010 debut. Nyck de Vries Secures Podium Finish
In addition to Buemi's success, Mahindra Racing's Nyck de Vries also delivered a strong performance at Imola, finishing third and securing a podium spot alongside his teammates Mike Conway and Kamui Kobayashi. This result adds to the competitive spirit of the championship, showcasing the talent across different teams.
Formula E Focus Shifts to Berlin
With the Imola event concluded, Formula E drivers are now turning their attention to the upcoming Berlin double-header. Season 12 of Formula E is currently six races in, with 11 more races scheduled before the finale in August. Rounds 7 and 8 are set to take place in Berlin on May 2 and 3, promising intense action on the track.
Buemi's and De Vries' Season Standings
Buemi's win at Imola comes just weeks after he secured his first Formula E podium of the season in Jeddah during Round 5. He is currently ninth in the Drivers' Standings with 43 points. While the Mexico City E-Prix proved challenging for him, he has otherwise consistently finished in the top eight in the remaining races, demonstrating his resilience and skill.
On the other hand, Nyck de Vries has faced challenges with consistency this season and currently sits 14th in the Drivers' Standings with 12 points. His podium at Imola could serve as a momentum boost as the season progresses.
Looking Ahead: The World Endurance Championship and Formula E continue to captivate motorsport fans, with upcoming events in Berlin set to further shape the standings. Buemi's dual success across series highlights the versatility of top drivers in today's racing landscape.
