The 7th UMAI National Youth Muay Thai Championship, held in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, witnessed an outstanding performance from the Chhattisgarh contingent, which bagged a total of 17 medals. The haul included seven gold, four silver, and six bronze medals. Meghalaya emerged as the overall champion of the tournament, with Assam securing the second position. Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh jointly claimed the third spot.
Gold Medal Achievements
On the final day of the championship, Chhattisgarh added five gold medals to its tally. Samidha Agrawal from Raipur defeated her opponent from Mizoram to win gold. Sanjeet Mohanty, also from Raipur, clinched the under-10 gold medal after being declared the winner in a 'no contest' bout. Kapsa Gupta from Dalli Rajhara (Balod) secured gold by defeating her rival from Bihar. In the Wai Kru solo event, Balod's Sadhike Dubey and Himani Darsena each won gold medals in their respective categories. Earlier in the championship, Yuvraj Singh from Jagdalpur and Tanushree Meena from Dalli Rajhara had also won gold medals for the state.
Contingent and Performance
The Chhattisgarh contingent comprised 36 members, including 27 players and nine officials. Out of the 27 players, 10 were eliminated in the quarterfinals. The silver medalists for the state were Baljeet Kaur, Siddhi Nirmalkar, Nityam Kumar Sahu, and Aditya Jha. Bronze medals were won by Twinkle Tandia, Varsha Nirmalkar, Chhaya Nag, Aditya Gupta, Simran Singh, and Aryaman Sehgal.
