Antonio Felix da Costa Dominates Formula E with Consecutive Victories
Portuguese racing driver Antonio Felix da Costa is experiencing an exceptional season in Formula E, having secured two consecutive wins that have propelled him into championship contention. The Jaguar TCS Racing driver first triumphed at the Jeddah event before following up with a victory at the inaugural Madrid E-Prix, demonstrating remarkable consistency and skill behind the wheel.
Da Costa Confirms World Endurance Championship Comeback
Amid his Formula E success, the 34-year-old has officially confirmed his return to the World Endurance Championship (WEC) after a two-season absence. Da Costa will compete in the prestigious 6 Hours of Imola race as part of the Alpine Endurance Team, marking his comeback to the championship where he last participated in 2023 with Hertz Team Jota in the Hypercar category.
The announcement was made through the series' official social media channels, with an Instagram post declaring: "Return of the DAC. After two seasons away, @afelixdacosta is back in WEC, this time with @alpine_endurance_team. Could a podium be on the cards this weekend?" Da Costa responded simply with "Voilà" in the comments, expressing his enthusiasm for the opportunity.
Imola Event Details and Schedule
The iconic Imola race will take place at Italy's historic Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari circuit from April 17-19. The main 6-hour endurance event is scheduled to begin at 1 pm local time on April 19, providing motorsport fans with an exciting weekend of racing action. This return to WEC competition allows da Costa to showcase his versatility across different racing disciplines during a break in the Formula E calendar.
Current Formula E Standings and Performance Analysis
Following his back-to-back victories, Antonio Felix da Costa currently occupies fourth position in the Formula E Drivers' Standings with 64 points. He trails his Jaguar TCS Racing teammate Mitch Evans by just a single point, creating an intriguing intra-team championship battle. After a somewhat slow start with his new team following his move from Porsche, da Costa secured his first victory with Jaguar in Round 5 at Jeddah before immediately repeating the achievement in Round 6 at Madrid.
Reflecting on his remarkable double victory, da Costa shared: "Back-to-back wins, a 1–2 for the team - that doesn't happen often! Massive congratulations to all the boys and girls back in the UK providing us with these cars. It's kind of a home race for me. I have a lot of friends and family here and it's a bit of a dream day. We're both winners, we both wanted to win, we just got different messages. We'll work it out. I'm happy for Mitch [Evans], he must have done an amazing race, I've got to go back and watch that because he came from the back! I'm happy with what we executed today, and it's a dream day."
Balancing Dual Racing Commitments
The talented driver is strategically utilizing the current break in the Formula E calendar to compete in the World Endurance Championship, demonstrating his ability to manage multiple racing commitments simultaneously. Following his WEC appearance at Imola, da Costa will return to Formula E action for the Berlin double-header scheduled from May 1-3, where he will aim to continue his winning momentum and close the gap in the championship standings.
This dual-commitment approach highlights da Costa's status as one of motorsport's most versatile and in-demand drivers, capable of competing at the highest level across different racing series while maintaining competitive performance in each discipline.
