Discovery of Syringes and Vials in Athlete Restrooms
According to insider sources, multiple syringes and vials, allegedly employed for doping purposes, were uncovered in the restrooms utilized by athletes at the event venue, situated on the outskirts of the city. NADA officials were actively conducting routine checks throughout the meet but escalated their vigilance after these items were found in the toilets.
A source revealed, "Many of the bottles featured labels in the Russian language, indicating the probable use of banned substances. One label in English was nearly completely removed, yet it was still discernible as a mephentermine injection—a stimulant strictly prohibited under World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regulations." The findings were reported to NADA authorities on the opening day of the competition.
Immediate Response and Warnings Issued
In response, organizers promptly displayed posters outside the restrooms, cautioning athletes in both English and Hindi: "Do not take any syringes inside the toilet. Our volunteers are watching you." A coach noted that this warning had an immediate effect, with a significant reduction in the number of syringes recovered on the subsequent day.

Another senior coach present at the venue expressed grave concerns, stating, "Some senior athletes are encouraging younger ones to resort to banned substances. According to the 2024 WADA Testing Figures report, India recorded the highest number of adverse analytical findings among major nations, with 260 positive results from 7,113 samples tested—a positivity rate of 3.6%.
