A 35-year-old state-level football player, Sikandar Verma, lost his life in a tragic accident at a transport company's warehouse in Sachendi, Kanpur, late Thursday night. According to police reports, Verma was crushed under a mini-truck at the facility.
Incident Details
Verma, a clerk at a transport company in Juhi Rakhimandi, had gone to the warehouse in Sachendi on Thursday evening. Late that night, a mini-truck ran over him, causing fatal injuries. His colleagues rushed him to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Family Informed
The hospital staff informed Verma’s family, who then arrived at the hospital and transported his body to their home in Cantt. The family later contacted the police to report the incident. Verma is survived by his wife Ruby, who is eight months pregnant, his elder brothers Sonu, Monu, and Golu, and his mother Leelavati.
Police Investigation
On Friday, the police sent Verma’s body for a post-mortem examination. Cantt police station in-charge Arvind Rai stated that a formal report will be registered and appropriate action will be taken based on the written complaint filed by the victim’s family and the post-mortem findings.
