Harry Brook reclaims ICC Test batting No.1, displaces Joe Root

England's Harry Brook has reclaimed the No. 1 position in the ICC Men's Test batting rankings, displacing his teammate Joe Root in the latest update released on Wednesday. Brook's return to the summit follows a half-century in the first innings of England's 115-run victory over New Zealand in the first Test at Lord's.

Root drops to third

Root, who had been leading the rankings, managed only scores of one and eight in the match, allowing Brook to move back to the top. Brook first achieved the No. 1 ranking in December 2024.

Australia's Travis Head has climbed to second place, while Root has slipped to third ahead of the second Test between England and New Zealand at The Oval, starting June 17.
