Immanuel Quickley Out for Rest of Raptors-Cavaliers Series with Hamstring Injury
Immanuel Quickley Out for Rest of Raptors-Cavaliers Series

The Toronto Raptors have confirmed that point guard Immanuel Quickley will miss the remainder of their first-round playoff series against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The announcement was made on Friday, citing a right hamstring injury that Quickley sustained during the regular-season finale against the Brooklyn Nets.

Injury Details and Recovery

Quickley had been recovering from the injury, which occurred when he played only 16 minutes in the first half of that final regular-season game, contributing four points, two rebounds, and five assists. Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic had previously stated that Quickley was "getting better every day" and that his availability for Game 3 was questionable. However, the team has now ruled him out for the entire series.

Before the injury, Quickley had a career-best season, averaging 16.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 5.9 assists over 70 games. His three-point shooting was a key asset: after struggling with a 34.7% rate in the first half, he improved to 41.5% in the second half, finishing the season at 37.4%. The 26-year-old also dealt with plantar fasciitis, which caused him to miss eight consecutive games from late March to early April and required him to wear a walking boot at times.

Series Status and Team Adjustments

The Cavaliers hold a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series after winning Games 1 and 2 in Cleveland. Game 3 took place at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Thursday, April 23, at 8 p.m., where the Raptors secured a 126-104 victory. In the absence of Quickley, rookie Ja'Kobe Walter started at guard, while Jamal Shead had started in the first two games.

Scottie Barnes recorded a double-double with a playoff career-high 33 points in the Game 3 win. He emphasized the team's resilience, stating, "We were going to do whatever it takes… We knew we needed everybody for this win. You've seen some big performances from everybody. It just goes to show how resilient we are, how badly we wanted it, going out there and trying to do whatever it took."

Canadian R.J. Barrett also scored 33 points, and rookie Collin Murray-Boyles added 22 points in the crucial victory. Game 4 of the series is scheduled for Sunday afternoon in Toronto, with the Raptors trailing 2-1.
