In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through the Indian motorsports community, five-time Indian National Rally Championship winner Hari Singh, aged 59, is missing after a speedboat overturned in the Maldives on Thursday night. The accident also involved Gautam Singhania, Chairman and Managing Director of the Raymond Group, who sustained injuries but has been confirmed safe and is currently recovering in Mumbai.

The speedboat, carrying a group of seven individuals, capsized near Felidhoo in the Maldives. While Singhania and several others were successfully rescued, Hari Singh and another person remain unaccounted for. Search operations, conducted jointly by the Indian Navy and Maldivian authorities, were temporarily halted on Friday evening due to darkness but have since resumed.

Shashi Pal Singh Garcha, President of the Chandigarh Motorsports Association and a close friend of Hari Singh, expressed the community's anguish. "We still don't have any news about Hari and the other missing person," Garcha stated. "Everyone is keeping their fingers crossed and praying for their safe return."

Injuries and Community Response

Gautam Singhania suffered minor injuries in the accident. A spokesperson for the industrialist confirmed, "Gautam Singhania suffered minor injuries following an unfortunate accident. He is recovering under due care in Mumbai. We thank you for the wishes and pray for the well-being of the affected friends."

Tragically, another passenger, Manik Bhimsen Bhardwaj from Bengaluru, sustained severe injuries that necessitated the amputation of his arm.

The news has deeply affected the motorsports fraternity. International rally driver Gaurav Gill visited Hari Singh's residence in Chandigarh's Sector 8 to offer support. Fellow rally driver Rattan Dhillon took to social media, calling Singh "a true legend of Indian motorsport" and urging prayers for his safe return.
