Jaipur's promising martial arts player, Shaurya Maheshwari, a student of Jayshree Periwal Pre School in Malviya Nagar, has clinched the gold medal in the Under-18 kg weight category at the recently concluded Worldwide Super League International Taekwondo Championship.

Impressive Victory at Young Age

Five-year-old Shaurya triumphed in the kyorugi event with a brilliant performance, showcasing remarkable skill and determination. The three-day competition, held in the Pink City, saw participation from hundreds of athletes across India and other nations. The tournament was organized under the initiative of the Sports Authority of India and Fit India, marking it as a significant event in the sporting calendar.

Tournament Highlights

The World Wide Super League International Taekwondo Championship is a major international taekwondo event. The 2026 edition took place from April 10 to 12 at the Khelo India Indoor Stadium in the Rajasthan Police Academy, Jaipur, Rajasthan. The event featured multiple disciplines including kyorugi, poomsae, speed kick, speed punch, and taekwondo dance. The team from the Global Institute of Self Defence and Martial Arts (GOSEDMA) displayed excellent agility and technique, securing a total of 16 medals overall.

Shaurya has been training in taekwondo under the guidance of coach and international player Richa Gaur at GOSEDMA. This gold medal marks his second international taekwondo achievement, following a bronze medal he won at the Kukkiwon International tournament held in Delhi last October.
