Kochi: Roshan Raju, a native of Amalapuram near Angamaly, has emerged as the Kerala topper in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026, securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 134. The results of this prestigious engineering entrance examination were officially announced on Monday.

Academic Journey and Preparation

A student of KE School, Mannanam in Kottayam, Roshan prepared for the examination while pursuing his Plus One and Plus Two studies at an entrance coaching centre located in Pala. He emphasized that consistent practice was the cornerstone of his success. “There are no shortcuts to scoring well,” Roshan stated. “I used to write nearly 30 model tests over a period of two months. The mock examinations conducted by the coaching centre greatly helped me.”

Future Aspirations

Roshan hopes to secure admission to the Computer Science programme at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and aspires to build a career as a game developer. His father, Raju K K, who serves as a manager at the KSFE regional office in Kakkanad, expressed his pride: “We expected him to secure a good rank, but becoming the state topper exceeded our expectations.”

Among Kerala candidates, Vishnav ENK of Thrissur secured the second rank in the state, while Dev Nair from Ernakulam finished third. The competition was intense, with students from across the region vying for top positions.

Examination Details

Across the nation, a total of 1,79,694 candidates appeared for both papers 1 and 2 in JEE (Advanced) 2026, which was held on May 17. Of these, 56,880 candidates have qualified, including 10,107 females. The examination was conducted in double shifts: Paper 1 was held in the morning shift from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon, and Paper 2 was conducted in the afternoon shift from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Each paper had a duration of three hours.
