The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has shortlisted three architectural firms for the comprehensive upgradation of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This development marks a significant step in modernizing the iconic cricket venue.
Upgradation Plans
KSCA president Raghuram Prasad confirmed that the association is committed to enhancing the stadium's infrastructure. The selected architects will be tasked with developing a detailed plan to improve facilities, including seating, player amenities, and spectator experience.
Light Tower Modernization
In addition to the structural upgrades, Prasad announced that the KSCA will upgrade the light towers at three major venues: the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the Srikantadatta Narasimha Raja Wadiyar Cricket Stadium in Mysuru, and the Rajnagar Stadium in Hubballi. The new lighting systems will meet international standards, enabling better broadcast quality and night-game visibility.
Timeline and Next Steps
The KSCA is expected to finalize the architect selection within the next month. The entire upgradation project is likely to be completed before the next major cricket season. Prasad emphasized that the upgrades will ensure these stadiums remain world-class venues for domestic and international matches.
