Jaipur: Former Indian volleyball team member Lavmeet Katariya has been appointed as one of the national selectors by the Volleyball Federation of India (VFI). The VFI steering committee has taken a major decision regarding the selection process for the senior men's national volleyball team.
Under the latest order, selection trials will be held from April 29, 2026, at the Sports Authority of India's Centre of Excellence in Ahmedabad. The federation has formed a seven-member selection committee to select players for upcoming international competitions – the AVC Men's Cup 2026 and the Asian Games 2026.

The committee members have been directed to report to the SAI Centre by April 28, 2026. The selection trials will run from April 29 to May 1, 2026.
The federation has asked all the members to be present during the selection process, send their consent and submit a detailed report within 7 days after the trials. This order has been issued by steering committee chairman Rohit Rajpal.
Katariya, a former national player, brings valuable experience to the selection panel. His appointment is expected to strengthen the committee's ability to identify top talent for the national team. The upcoming trials will be crucial in building a competitive squad for the AVC Men's Cup 2026 and the Asian Games 2026.
